Duckpond House Concert No. 27
Little Rabbit
27 June 2015

Little Rabbit played at the Duckpond only 9 months ago but, because we liked them so much
and because many of our regular patrons missed them then, we decided to ask them back again.

Little Rabbit are a Melbourne based bluegras/old timey trio who play a mix of old favourites
and new original tunes. Kim Wheeler (vocals, double bass & guitar), Kat Mear (vocals, fiddle, banjo & guitar)
and Pete Fidler (vocals, dobro, mandolin & guitar) are all fine instrumentalists capable of displaying
much fancy fingerwork. They have a great rapport and showcase some sweet vocal harmonies.

This time Pete brought with him his new bamboo dobro, which sounded lovely.
Unfortunately, he didn't think to bring his banjo, much to my dismay.

Kat and Kim's voices complement each other so well, but I'm not
sure how Kat managed to play her fiddle with such gusto
and keep up with the singing at the same time!

All three write some great songs, and they shared many new numbers from their forthcoming CD,
which will be released later this year. They were also happy to oblige with some of our old favourites.
Actually I don't think they needed to bother with a playlist - just work their way through Jonni's requests.

Pete has a great collection of instruments, and believe it or not
he's soon off to Chicago where I believe he's planning
to acquire one more very special guitar.

The 'after concert' chit chat is a special part of the evening for us
and we look forward to welcoming them back in the not too distant future.

I wouldn't have thought it possible, but they were even better than last time. I can't wait
for the new CD to be released. In the meantime, if you'd like to find out more about Little Rabbit
