Duckpond House Concert No. 36
Andy Irvine & Luke Plumb
5 February 2017

Jonni was a big fan of the Irish folk supergroup Planxty and has followed the exploits of its members over the years.
One of those was Andy Irvine, whom we first met when he played the Cockatoo Cafe some time in the 1990s.
When we found out that he'd be touring, Jonni got in touch and persuaded Andy to play a Duckpond house concert.

Andy has a fine and distinctive voice, as well as being a master of many instruments - guitar, bouzouki
and harmonica on this occasion. He was accompanied by the talented Australian multi-instrumentalist, Luke Plumb

Andy and Luke played a mixture of Irish traditional songs, Balkan dance tunes
and some of Andy's numerous self-penned songs

As befits the true troubadour that he is, it was the stories and anecdotes that greatly enhanced the performance.
This is what makes house concerts different to any other gigs.

So many years since the days of Planxty, and still an amazing performer -
and he picked a perfect partner in Luke Plumb.

To find out more about Andy, go to his website at
www.andyirvine.com and, if you'd like to
listen to some of the songs he sang on the night, Jonni has put a video up on YouTube.
